Island - a thing regarded as resembling an island, especially in being isolated, detached, or surrounded in some way.
“ In 2009 I did a residency at Cove Park, Scotland. During my time there, I created stand alone singular forms using plaster. Since 2020, I have returned to making singular forms, ‘islands’, with thickened liquid clay (casting slip) . I pour a layer, wait for it to settle overnight until it is ready for the next pour. It is a slow process, there is an element of control yet it can be unpredictable. I thoroughly enjoy working this way. Island , 2020 is an imaginary world, a playful mix of components in pastel shades and surfaces”.
